How to deal with stress

How to deal with stress

Lately I’ve been really stressed out mainly, because uni is very busy. Assignments, reading lots of articles and doing my research internship. All together can be quite stressful. Which is also the reason why I haven’t been posting as many posts as a usually do. So when I was thinking about ways for me to destress I thought I could also share these tips with you! Let me know if they helped and if you have other ones that work for you!

Tip 1: Stick to your normal sleeping routine. It can be quite tempting to work until late at night and go to bed later than usual. When you’re stressed you need even more sleep than you usually do, because your body is working harder when you’re stressed.

Tip 2: Try to have a little time off before you go to bed. A little time where you don’t work on uni assignments and other bits and bobs. Maybe make a list or plan out the next day so your head is clear when you go to bed. Also watching some Netflix or reading a book can really help.

Tip 3: Plan fun or relaxing things in advance. Although you might think you need al your time for your uni assignments, planning some fun and relaxing things in advance really helps. You have something to look forward to, which can motivate you to finish your assignments earlier. It can also be a moment where you can relax and reload for the next (stressful) day.

Tip 4: Have set times where you do your uni work. It could help to have set times in your day when you work on your assignments or anything you need to do. For example you can say in the morning I work from 9 till 12 and after that I take a long lunch break. This can really help you get into a routine and not procrastinate until late in the evening before you start working.

Tip 5: Making a list of things you need to do. This really helps me to not reminding myself over and over again what I need to do. Repeating the list of things I need to do in my head costs me a lot of energy I need to be using to complete work. Writing down a list also had the advantage that you can check off tasks when they are done. This is always a really satisfying feeling in my opinion!

I hope these tips will help you when you’re stressed and need to destress. If you have any other tips please share them in the comments below! If they work for you they probably can work for someone else as well. Let’s help each other! 🙂

Some great advice here, I actually try all these things myself! There’s an app I use called Forest that allows you to set a timer on your phone and if you manage to stay off your phone for the duration of time, a little tree grows. So on those days that you stress you’ve done very little work and that you need to do more, you can look at all the trees you’ve grown that day and relax a bit!

Hope uni calms down a bit for you soon!

I feel like I’m constantely stressed so this post was really helpful and came at the right time! Some brilliant advice, I definitely agree with time off before bed, I find when I just try and read for an hour or watch something on tv, it makes me feel so much more relaxed meaning I get a better nights sleep!

This is some great advice! I’ve had some very stressful weeks lately and I didn’t do anything to try and relax, but I do like to take some me-time before going to bed every day!

Yees, doing Uni work and internship or a job can be very stressful. :/ Have to say, when I studied I didn’t give myself much time to rest. :/ TBH it did felt like I don’t have much time to rest anyway. 😀 I went late to bed, studied til 1am or 2am, worked on weekends etc. Crazy schedule and worked (at least for me) only for a small period of time. 😉 It is very important to have rest and your tips were very good! 🙂 Sleep is very important 🙂 as well as some time for yourself – just laying in the bed, reading or taking a bath. 🙂 Also days outdoors take mind of school/work stress very well. 🙂
