The Truth About Uni | Relationships

The Truth About Uni | Relationships

This week is already the forth topic in The Truth About Uni collaboration, which seem a good time to talk about relationships.

To be honest I was really struggling this week to talk about this topic, because I wasn’t sure which way I wanted to approach this. During your time at uni you can feel a little overwhelmed by the fact that everyone is making friends and is dating. Thought if you need it just take your time to explore and see which people fit you and except you for who you are. I struggled for quite a while finding friends that I could really trust and knew that they were there for me no matter what. The one thing that I learned about friendships through my time at uni is that the whole fitting into a group is not my thing. I’ve had some really bad experiences with that to the point that I thought I didn’t fit in anywhere. If you feel the same at the moment the biggest advice I can give you is fitting into a group is not the most important thing! Have faith that you’ll find friends that think the same way you do and have the same values. They will come around I’m sure! And it sounds cliché, but having one or a few really good friends is so much better than having a lot you barely know.

The other part of the relationship topic is dating and having boyfriends or girlfriends. I don’t think I’m the best person to give advice about this topic. That said the advice I can give you is stay yourself no matter what. The other person just has to accept you for who you truly are! I’ve had a boyfriend in high school and during uni I’ve been dating, but never with the result of a relationship. Which is fine! In my opinion a relationship is something serious and have to be taken seriously. So if you are dating someone and you feel like it’s not going to work out the way you like that’s completely fine!

All right I hope you liked this kind of all over the place post. Not my typical style of writing, but let me know in the comments if this is something you like! Don’t forget to check out JasmineToriKateSaffronSophieBex and Jen their blogs. And see what they’ve written about relationships! And I’ll see you in two weeks with a new uni related topic!

Think this applies in all walks of life Anna not just Uni (sadly I cannot compare as I never went) but I think you struggle to find your fit with friend circles everywhere. I’m 39 and still find this difficult xoxo

It’s not fun when everyone else is loved up and your not. I’m like that at the mo minus the uni. Friends are forever hopefully they’ll stick by you until you find that special someone xxx

Having just a few friends is so much more important I think than having a whole group! It’s better to have a few who have your back and you can rely on I’ve found over the last few years 🙂

I have found it quite hard in uni because the group I ended up with has a completely different maturity level than me…. I ended up surrounded by two faced people, and backing away was the best decision ever!! It sucks because I haven’t really found another group since, but definitely better to have one good friend than five fake🙈😋

Ahhh yes definitely ! Take care! And you know what I found when I became older I didn’t waist my energy trying to fit into a group. Letting the thought go that I had to fit in one was such a relieve! Xoxo Annaleid
