I think that every woman should have a basis in her wardrobe that she can always rely on: wardrobe staples. I know there are many posts like this one, but in my defence I’ll say that everyones style is different. So if you like the way I dress and go to work everyday then keep on reading. You might end up picking one or two staple pieces from this post. And remember they don’t have to be from the same brands as shown in this post. If you find any similar kind of pieces let me know! I’m always up for another shopping trip!
1. The black heels
I think a pair of black heels are an absolute staple in every women’s closet! They are a very versatile pair of shoes that can make a casual outfit appear more chic, but also really finish a chic outfit! These shoes are from Ted Baker, which I bought because of the simplicity and the non shiny leather.
2. The black loafers
A pair of black loafers is the perfect way to finish an outfit! I love these loafers from Faith, because of the metal stars on top of the shoes. This makes them a little bit less chic and are perfect underneath jeans, trousers, skirts or dresses.
3. The heeled boots
The last pair of shoes that I consider to be a wardrobe staple are heeled boots. I have two pair of them: a pair of black Aldo heeled boots and a pair of grey Ted Baker boots. As you can see I love Ted Baker shoes, because of their simplicity and the rose gold details!
4. The perfect pair of jeans
I have to be honest and say that I haven’t yet found my perfect pair of jeans. I’ve tried lots of different brands from H&M to Mango and WE Fashion. This Jegging is from WE Fashion and it fits really good, although it’s not really a pair of sturdy jeans. So if you have any recommendations for the perfect pair of jeans, let me know!
5. The pencil skirt
Besides a perfect pair of jeans I think every woman should have at least one well made pencil skirt in her wardrobe. I chose to buy one with a leather look to give it a little bit more edge. This way it looks less office like and more fashionable in my opinion. The pencil skirt is from Mango and was very affordable!
6. The timeless blouse
Having a couple of timeless blouses in your wardrobe is key for the look I like. My staple look is jeans styled with a blouse and some heels or loafers. Since I work as a Data Scientist this is most of the time work appropriate. If I need to go to a client I’ll throw on a blazer or add some fancy trousers. This blouse is from Mango and I also have this in black.
7. The blazer
Finding the right blazer is a real nightmare for me. Since I did elite gymnastics when I was a child I have very wide shoulders that don’t fit in any blazers or blouses. Luckily ever since I quit gymnastics this became a little bit easier. The two blazers I have in my closet are both from H&M. This navy one is a very old piece, while the black one I have is fairly new. I think navy and black are two very neutral colours that you can style with almost anything!
8. The leather jacket
If you follow me on instagram you know that a leather jacket would definitely be in this blogpost. Leather jackets are a staple piece in my wardrobe! I currently have two: a black one from ASOS and a berry/red one from Mango. It it were me I would have leather jackets in all different kind of colours, but that doesn’t fit in our hallway unfortunately…
9. The statement belt
Staying in the “if you follow me on instagram” theme… You’d definitely recognise this belt if you do! This belt is from New Look and is a Gucci inspired piece. You can style this belt with almost anything: dresses, skirts and a pair of jeans!
10. The Mary Poppins bag
So we’ve talked about everything except bags, which is maybe my favourite part of my wardrobe besides shoes. This is the London Tote bag is from Kurt Geiger. I use this bag every single day and absolutely love it. So a bag which fit everything you need is definitely a wardrobe staple!

I totally agree with all of these staples! I have way too many black heels but they’re just so handy! I actually don’t have any black loafers yet but only because I have quite sensitive feet and the ones I’ve found in the past have hurt my feet! I have a few bags from Kurt Geiger too and love them!

Love all of these and really agree with needing basic staple pieces as the foundation of every wardrobe! If you’re into straight leg/mom jean silhouettes I love the ASOS Farleigh jeans, a little pricier but seriously amazing – I think they have some skinnier styles too 🥰 xx

I totally agree with healed boots being a staple piece. If I could wear them all year round, I would! I have to stop myself from buying new pairs each time Autumn/Winter come around 😬
