Best 5 ways to raise awareness for breast cancer right NOW!

raise awareness for breast cancer

The month of October is not only known as Vlogtober but also as the breast cancer awareness month. To this day 1 out of 7 women is diagnosed with breast cancer. So I think it’s important to raise awareness for breast cancer! As every year I like to write a blogpost about the pink ribbon products you can purchase or make a video about my own experiences regarding this breast cancer. In this year’s post, I’m going to talk you through 5 ways to raise awareness for breast cancer during breast cancer awareness month 2020! You can still watch this IGTV video from last year on my Instagram account. Don’t worry it wasn’t anything serious, but I still want to send the message: Always check yourself and don’t be afraid to get it checked out!

How to raise awareness for breast cancer?

1. Buy pink ribbon products

There are a number of pink ribbon products you can buy, but I think the most known one is the pink ribbon bracelet. Every year the Pink Ribbon foundation releases a new Pink Ribbon Bracelet. This year it was designed in collaboration with PScallme. It is a very beautiful pink string bracelet and it would look great with a number of outfits. You can buy your own bracelet of course online or in shops like Bruna, Primera, and Hunkemoller.

2. Buy a bouquet

Every year Albert Heijn, a grocery shop in The Netherlands, sells a bouquet to raise money for breast cancer research. This is a beautiful pink bouquet, created from all kinds of flowers. When you buy this bouquet from Albert Heijn you support breast cancer research.

3. Mango x Fero collaboration

Another company that creates dedicated breast cancer awareness month products is Mango. This year Mango created three different types of T-shirts, where every T-shirt had a different design and color. When you buy this T-shirt from Mango you support the Fero foundation in their research towards breast cancer. This is the third year I bought this Mango x Fero t-shirt to support the Fero foundation in their research towards breast cancer. Every year they create something else alongside the t-shirts. Last year they made some amazing sweaters. while this year they created a very cute makeup bag!

4. Hunkemoller pink ribbon products

Ever since I can remember Hunkemoller tries to create awareness towards checking your own breasts. They don’t only sell the pink ribbon bracelet, but they also create their own products every single year. Last year they launched Pjs’s, which were very cute. If you missed them you can still see them in my IGTV linked at the beginning of this post. This year they launched a special wireless bra with matching bottoms. I think this is a great idea to raise awareness for breast cancer. And of course, you can buy the pink ribbon bracelet at Hunkemoller as well!

5. Raise awareness for breast cancer with your story

As I already mentioned in the intro of this blogpost it is so important that you share your story. I shared my own personal story in an IGTV last year. I know it wasn’t anything shocking, but I wanted to open a conversation about the taboo around breast cancer and checking yourself frequently! It’s very important that women are not afraid to talk about this subject and aren’t ashamed to go to the GP if they suspect something is wrong. Raise awareness so we can get more breast cancer research! Let’s create this amazing platform together and share your own experiences or stories, offline or online!

Of course, there are many more breast cancer awareness month ideas and I know these are just a few. I hope by sharing these ideas you get creative and support the research towards this illness.

Glad you are getting the word out on this important topic. My wife had breast cancer twelve years ago and it was a rough experience for her. She’s all better now but we still hold our breath every year for the check-ups. So far, so good!

Oh I’m so sorry to hear that, but I’m glad that she’s doing oke! I just hope we can spread the word and raise money for more research!
