The first installment of “Best of” series was such a success I thought I really need to write a new post in the same series! I also got some lovely comments on my last post, so thank you very much for those too! In these comments I mentioned doing a post about “hydrating facial cleansers” and I got quite a lot of you saying that you would be interested in that. So here it is: “Best of hydrating facial cleansers” Featuring the 3 hydrating facial cleansers I’ve tried.
Kiehl’s ultra facial cleanser review
The first of the hydrating facial cleanser I’m going to talk about is the Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cleanser, which claims to cleanse the skin without stripping it or removing the natural oils of the skin. I really love using this cleanser with my Foreo Luna as a second cleanse after I removed my makeup. This cleanser is lovely to use with a cleansing device because it becomes foam after you add water.
This creates a nice barrier between your cleansing device and your skin. It also leaves my skin feeling fresh and clean! And most important: It doesn’t dry out my skin! What I love about Kiehl’s is the fact that they offer travel sizes of some of their products, which allows you to (in this case) try out the cleanser without breaking the bank.
Botanics hydration burst cleanser
The second cleanser I’m going to discuss is the Botanics Hydration Burst Cleanser. This is quite an affordable cleanser that claims to cleanse and smoothen the skin without making it dry or tight. It’s a gel to milk formula, which is quite different from the other cleansers I’m mentioning in this post. This is also the reason why I love using this as a quick first, makeup removing, cleanse.
If I use this cleanser with my Foreo Luna, it feels like I’m putting the device directly on my skin. So I mainly use this one to remove my makeup and give my skin a ‘first cleanse’ in the evening. And it really does the job without drying out my skin!
Simple Moisturising Face Wash
The last cleanser in this post is the Simple Moisturising Face Wash, which is currently sold out in The Netherlands (here’s the UK link). First a shout out to Simple Skincare for making this available in The Netherlands! This cleanser claims to cleanse the skin and remove impurities without making it dry or tight. I have to say this could be an affordable dupe for the Kiehl’s one. The formula of these cleansers is almost the same.
It becomes foam when you add water to the cleanser and it leaves your skin feeling cleans and fresh, but not tight! Though, the Simple one is less ‘rich’ compared to the Kiehl’s one. I have to say that this could also preferable to have a cleanser that is less rich in the formula. So I think if you have a smaller budget this cleanser is a great option over the Kiehl’s one and does the same job!
Best hydrating facial cleansers?
Now the real question: Which one is the best hydrating facial cleanser? I think I prefer the Kiehl’s face wash over the Botanics hydration burst cleanser and the simple moisturising face wash, because I really love the rich formula and the fact that I can use it with my Foreo Luna. This doesn’t mean in any way that I think the other two are bad.
Not at all! Like I said I think the simple moisturising face wash is a great budget option and basically does the same as the Kiehl’s face wash. And I really like the Botanics Hydation burst cleanser to remove my makeup and as a second cleanse, but I also have an oil cleanser to do this. For my routine, it’s a bit excessive, but for others, it might be a great first cleanser!
I hope you liked this post about best of Hydrating facial cleansers! And let me know what you’d like to see next!! And if you’re interested in the Foreo Luna Mini, head over to the Luna Mini Review!

Thanks for the reviews! I’d be interested in trying out the Botanics cleanser for make-up removal. 🙂
