When you’re working 40 hours a week it’s hard to also exercise and plan social activities outside of work. Combining the two (or even the three) was hard for me at first, but now I discovered the things that work for me and for my body. So I really want to share these with you and maybe help you with the struggle of combining your job with staying fit.
Find something you like
This might seem unnecessary to mention, but it really is the first thing I would recommend you to find out. If you plan a form of exercise you don’t like after an 8 hour workday, you’re less likely to go. Though, that sounds easier than it might be. So try out different classes at your local gym or find a sport that you like to do. I really like to do barre classes at my local gym!
Find a buddy
Going to a class by yourself or even going to the gym by yourself is not really motivating in my opinion. When you’re going together it’s really motivating and it helps you to actually go to the class.
Plan classes in advance
This brings me to my next point. Bring your classes in advance or have dedicated days that you exercise after work. That will help you to get into an exercise routine! I find that it really helps me to take classes instead of planning to go to the gym. When I go to classes I have to be there before the class starts, which allows me to have less time to postpone going to the gym.
Last but not least: Don’t underestimate home workouts. If you only have for example half an hour to exercise just put on your gym clothes and start a youtube video. You can do a full workout in just half an hour. Especially if you take a pilates or yoga class, but als a ballet workout is perfect to do at home. I love the workout video’s for Kathryn Morgan and the video’s from Blogilates!
I hope these tips and tricks will help you to combine both a full time job with staying in shape or fit. If you have any tips or recommendations yourself don’t forget to share them in the comments below! This way we can help each other 🙂
