How to find your niche?

niche, finding, committing, deciding

Nowadays there are so many bloggers out there that it’s hard to stand out and be unique. I’ve been blogging now for over 1.5 years and I’ve experienced that it’s important to find your niche. This way people know what ‘kind of blogger’ you are. So after blogging for so long I finally found a niche that I can commit to which is blogging and having a full time job.

Why do you need a niche?

As I’ve already mentioned making unique content as a blogger or youtuber is hard these days, because blogging or making youtube videos is very popular. When I first started blogging I was not ready to commit to a niche at all. I felt like it was holing me back from making the content I wanted to. Though when people looked at my blog they said: “What do you write about?”. Therefore, it’s much more important to find your niche and use that in your branding. As a blogger you are a brand and your ‘brand goal’ is important when you want other people to understand what you are blogging about. When followers go to your blog they should be able to see what your blog is about within a couple of seconds. This will help you to get more engaged followers, because they know what they can expect from you.

What helped me to choose my niche?

I think after 1.5 years of blogging I realised that it just wasn’t clear to the visitors of my blog what my niche was. Ever since I started my full time job a little over one month ago I started thinking about writing content about combining a full time job with blogging. I think that I finally found my niche, because for the past 1.5 years I just didn’t find a niche I could commit too. I felt like it was limiting me in the content I can produce. Though I realised that within this niche I can still write about personal life events as well as beauty and fashion. That’s what I’ve always been looking for in a niche. So sometimes you just need a change in your life or a certain life event that will help you realise what niche you fit in.

I hope that you liked reading about my ‘niche finding’ journey. Did you already find your niche and how did you discover which niche you fit in?

For me, finding a niche was even harder. Being from a Caribbean island, most bloggers love to venture into the areas of travel, resorts and lifestyle, even food. I started out as a food blogger, sold the blog, then venture into tea parties, then mental health because I was diagnosed with mental health conditions, but has overcome them and trying to stay stress-free. Now I have ventured into natural beauty and also a little bit into natural beauty and cosmetics product photography.

Your story towards finding your niche sounds so inspiring! I think that life events really help you discover your niche or make you decide to go towards another direction! 🙂 I’m also into natural beauty:) Have you ever tried Emani Cosmetics (https://emani.com) ? They are completely vegan and I love their products. I’ve had the opportunity to work with the Emani Benelux and I really honestly love their products 🙂
