How to live your dream life?

start your dream life by kristinal Karlsson from Kikki K.

Last month I attended a press event in London where I met Kristina Karlsson the founder of Kikki K. During the press event she gave a talk about Living your dream life. She’s such an inspiring person and gave me a lot of stuff to think about. Her book “Your dream life starts here” launched in September 2018 and is an awesome tool if you want to start living your dream life. You’ll answer questions like “What would you do if you couldn’t fail ?” and “What do you want to achieve with your dreams?”, which are going to help you start living your dream life.

About Kristina

If you didn’t know her already Kristina Karlsson is the founder of the very successful stationery brand Kikki K. She’s originally from Sweden, but after moving to Australia she didn’t find herself in a happy place work wise. Therefore, she wrote in the middle of the night on a piece of paper how she wanted her dream life to look like. Although here dreams were big she started small, but with the believe she could make it happen. After years of blood sweat and tears she grew into a brand that is sold all over the world. Last year she wrote a book, which can give you a push in the direction of living your dream life.

Tererai Trent

In the book there are a couple of nowadays famous people that share their story to success. One of them is Tererai Trent, which I think is in my opinion an amazing story. Tererai Trent, or no wait I have to say Dr. Tererai Trent, grew up in a tiny little village in Zimbabwe. She didn’t have the opportunity to go to school as she had to take care of the household. This didn’t let her give up hear dream to become a Dr. and get a PHD degree. She learned how to read and write from the schoolbooks of her brother and got even more inspired when she met Jo Luck, the CEO of Heifer International. Fast forward she moved to Oklahoma and now has not even a bachelor degree in Agriculture, but also a masters degree and a PHD! She’s also founder of the Tererai Trent International Foundation that helps to create quality education for everyone.

Fun Fact: 1 Dollar of each sold copy of this book goes to the Tererai Trent International Foundation

Live your dream life

As you might know I’m also working towards living my dream life. What I notice is that building a good foundation of what you want to achieve and how you want to achieve it is key. I you just keep dreaming, but don’t have any plan on how to achieve this it’s going to be very difficult. I also noticed that the negative thoughts like “I can’t do this” or “I’m never going to live my dream life” can be quite demotivating.
This book takes you through every step of living your dream life. Starting with writing down 101 dream goals and finishing with your one page dream roadmap. And don’t be scared Your Dream Life Starts Here takes you along each step of planning out your dream life until you can create your own roadmap.

My review

I already touch upon my review briefly in the last paragraph of this blogpost. First of all I’m a big fan of the stationary brand itself. Think whenever Kikki K would open a store in Amsterdam I’ll be have to resist the temptation to buy the whole store. And secondly I think this book is amazing! It gives you guidance towards creating your plan for your dream life. The exercises in the book make you really think about your goals and how you want to achieve them. There’s also a corresponding journal with even more exercises, but you can also just follow the book by itself!

I’d love to learn more about your dream goals and how you are going to achieve them! I’d also love to write more about my dreams and how I motivate myself to work towards those dreams every single day. Would you be interested in hearing about them?

She really is an inspiring person and I would really recommend reading this book. It might sound overwhelming, but I find that this book is very good at breaking it into bite size pieces. This way it’s less to not overwhelming at all 🙂
Let me know what you think!

This reminds me of last week’s yoga session where the quote of the week was “If you think you can, you will see opportunities. If you think you can’t, you will only see obstacles.”

Every day should be our dream life, good to think about how to make it happen.

Lately I’ve been really interested in this style of guided self-reflection workbooks as opposed to traditional self help books. A lot of personal growth comes down to questions, rather than answers. And while I do love sitting down to read an inspiring book, it also often leaves something missing, the sort of personal component that helps you figure your own self out and getting moving on a plan that works for you. And Kristina’s sounds like a great one for exactly this kind of thing. Thanks for sharing!
