Vegan protein powder
I’ve been using vegan protein powder in my smoothies for a while. I have to be honest and say that I used to be scared of everything protein powder, because I was told that woman get very muscular when using protein powder. Well that’s a huge myth! Especially when you can’t eat any dairy products like me (lactose intolerant) or if you’re plant based/vegan it’s very important to make sure you eat enough protein! Therefore plant based protein powders are very useful. I use them in my morning smoothies or recovery shakes after a workout and I love it!
Pumpkin Protein
So first of all a little bit about pumpkin protein*, because you might think I’ve never heard about pumpkin protein powder before. Well I did neither, before I got across this brand. I used to use plant based protein like rice or hemp protein in my smoothies and recovery shakes, but I heard amazing things about pumpkin protein. So I thought why not give it a try and I have to say it’s amazing! I use the vegan protein from Biotona, which has lot’s of vegan protein powders. According to their website pumpkin protein powder contains a high concentration of unsaturated fatty acids as well as lots of other good nutrients. The powder is bright green and has a strong flavour, but I think as long as you like pumpkin seeds you’ll be fine!
Healthy smoothies
All you need for this recipe is:
- 1 banana
- 1 tbs biotona pumpkin protein (available at Holland and Barrett)
- 3 tbs rolled oats
- 200 ml of vegan milk (almond, oats, coconut, soy)
Put all the ingredients in a blender and blend them for about 1 minute. Basically until all the ingredients are nicely blended. For a change you could also add some other ingredients:
