I recently came in contact with the products from Balade en Provence, which is a company that creates ‘nasty free’ beauty bars for both men and women. I think it s such a nice idea to make products that we use every day like soap, shampoo and shaving products waste free! Besides the face that the Balade en Provence products are waste free, they are also Vegan and Organic. If you want to know more about these products and what I think of them, keep on reading!
No packaging and zero waste!
As I already mentioned below these bars are made with zero waste, but I can imagine that you think how is that possible. Well first of all you can see that they chose not to package their product in a plastic bottle or aluminium tin. The only ‘packaging’ they use is a cardboard box, which is 100% compostable and recyclable. During the manufacturing process they use a process called ‘cold press’ and they also use natural ingredients only. They chose to produce a solid bar to reduce the amount of water in the product. Most of the mainstream products contain around 80% of water. Another fun fact about their company: A nearby institute for disabled people is putting the bars into their cardboard boxes. I think it’s amazing that they include the community of the village into their company!

What kind of products do they sell?
Balade en Provence sells all the basic products that you need: Soap bars, Shampoo bars and Shaving bars. And as I already mentioned in the beginning of this post there are products for men and women. In this post I reviewed the Soap bar, Shampoo bar and Shaving bar all for women!

The soap bar
Since the products are a solid bar I can imagine that you think: “how does it feel on my skin?” and “Does it produce foam?”. I think I haven’t used a solid soap bar for years, though I think it’s much more durable compared to the traditional soap bottles. I have a positive conclusion: The Vegan Body Soap Bar* foams up! When it comes into contact with water it produces quite a good amount of foam. Keep in mind that you can’t compare it to liquid soap regarding the amount of foam it produces. You get the best ‘foam’ results when you rub the bar on your wet skin. The bar feels als really nourishing on the skin, because of the shea butter and natural oils that are used in this bar. And last but not least the scent of orange blossom is amazing!

The shampoo bar
I have to say washing your hair with the Organic Vegan Solid Shampoo* was actually a new experience for me. Nevertheless, it was a really good experience. I use the same ‘technique’ as with the soap bar I use for my body. I rub the shampoo bar in my hair near my scalp and I notice that it produces enough foam to wash your hair! .I really felt like it made my scalp and hair clean, without stripping it or making it dry. And again the scent of this bar, lavender, is absolutely amazing. As you might know I have a weakness for lavender, so this bar is exactly up my street.
The shaving bar
The Organic Gentle Shave Bar* was a completely new experience for me as I usually just use the gel inside the razor and not an extra shaving cream of gel. Mostly because I feel like it limits the amount of hairs it shaves off. This shaving bar however was a mind blowing experience for me. The foam isn’t too thick, so it’t not in the way of reaching the hairs with the razor. As well as it leaves your skin feeling like silk, due to the natural oils and shea butter inside the bar. I absolutely love it!
I hope you really liked reading about the experience I had with the Balade en Provence products, which actually means “walk through the Provence”. I think they did an awesome job recreating this, because the scents take you all the way to France! Have you ever tried the Balade en Provence products or vegan soap bars?
