My experience with muscle soreness
I’ve always been very sensitive for sore and aching muscles after a workout. I never forget the first practice after the summer holidays when I still did elite gymnastics. The day after my muscles were always so sore that I was barely able to move around. Nowadays my workouts aren’t as intense compared to doing elite gymnastics, but I still have that sensitivity in my muscles.
What is arnica?
Arnica is a plant that grows mainly high in the mountains. The oil of the arnica plant is used for anti-inflammatory purposes. Usually the oil is an ingredient for a gel which helps against bruises and sprains. It’s commonly used in homeopathic medicine and at least in Holland arnica gel is being sold over the counter in almost every chemist.
I was very excited to see that Weleda came out with a sports range which was is made around arnica. This Arnica range consists of 4 products: Shower gel, Bath milk, Sport Gel and a Body Oil. Since I don’t have a bath I use the bath milk for my occasional foot bath. But I use the other three products very often! The Sports gel is more for ‘injury’ type of muscles soreness. The shower gel in combination with the body oil is amazing after every workout. I really helps my body to recover quicker and it results in less muscle soreness!
